Launch of the ForestNavigator Portal

The ForestNavigator Portal has officially been launched as an online decision-support platform developed within the EU Horizon Europe project ForestNavigator (2022–2026). The Portal is the result of a collaborative effort by the ForestNavigator consortium, with ENEA among the partners contributing expertise and data production.

 Forest Navigator Portal

The ForestNavigator Portal has officially been launched. Designed to support sustainable forest management and evidence-based policy-making across the EU, the Portal brings together scientific knowledge, harmonised datasets and analytical tools in a single, freely accessible environment.

The Portal currently hosts two interactive tools: the Data Explorer and the Pathways Explorer. The Data Explorer allows users to access and visualise harmonised datasets on forest status, dynamics, disturbances and biodiversity through interactive maps and charts, supported by comprehensive metadata to ensure correct interpretation and reuse. Users can explore patterns across countries and administrative units and download documented datasets for further analysis.

The Pathways Explorer enables the exploration and comparison of forest mitigation pathways at EU and national level, supporting the assessment of policy-relevant scenarios and their outcomes across Member States. While the Portal will continue to evolve, the finalisation of its full set of contents and functionalities is expected by the end of 2026. Additional datasets, including biodiversity-related data, will be made available later this year, while the full Pathways Explorer is planned for release in summer 2026.

By bringing together transparent, well-documented and exportable forest data and scenario analyses, the ForestNavigator Portal represents a key resource for researchers, policy-makers and stakeholders working on the future of Europe’s forests.
