From September 30 to October 2, 2025, the kick-off meeting of the MultiSoil Project — “Multifunctional Soil Biodiversity: Unlocking Potential for Healthy Cropping Systems” — will take place in Tuusula, Finland.
Funded under the Horizon Europe programme, MultiSoil is a 54-month initiative aimed at improving soil health and promoting sustainable pest management across Europe. The meeting brings together project partners, key stakeholders and representatives from related EU-funded initiatives such as SOILRES, DeliSoil, and SoildiverAgro, marking the official launch of the project.
The meeting provides an opportunity to align the vision, objectives, and work plan of the project, which will operate across six European pedoclimatic zones in seven countries. MultiSoil adopts a multi-actor approach, working closely with farmers, researchers, advisors, and local stakeholders to co-develop, test, and demonstrate agricultural practices that enhance soil functional biodiversity while reducing the need for chemical inputs. Special attention will be given to how MultiSoil will contribute to the objectives of the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe”, particularly by enhancing soil biodiversity, reducing soil pollution and supporting sustainable crop production.
ENEA participates as a partner through the Division Sustainable Agri-Food Systems of the Department for Sustainability. The project is coordinated by LUKE – Natural Resources Institute Finland.
