From Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th of September 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the University of Catania will host the ‘28th Workshop on the Developments in the Italian PhD Research on Food Science Technology and Biotechnology’ that will take place at Palazzo della Cultura ex convento Platamone, via Vittorio Emanuele II. The event is an opportunity for PhD students from schools in the field of Food Science and Technology to meet and compare notes. It is organised by the National Group of PhD Coordinators and the societies: SISTAL (Italian Society of Food Science and Technology), SISS (Italian Society of Sensory Science) and SIMTREA (Italian Society of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Microbiology).
The workshop is organized in a series of parallel sessions for oral communications, plenary lessons, a poster session and a final plenary session with testimonials from industries. ENEA will attend the poster session with the participation of Arianna Bindo (PhD student) and Manuela Costanzo (Laboratory Innovation of Agri-food Chains) with a poster entitled “Characterization of Soil Health Indicators and Soil Microbiome Analysis When Treated with Combined Use of Food Processing Residues and Microbial Biofertilizers”.
The poster will show the innovative work aimed at improving soil health through sustainable practices in food production, like the utilization of biofertilizers and microbial inoculants as sustainable alternatives to conventional chemical fertilizers.
PhD Student: Arianna Bindo (University of Turin)
PhD Tutors: Prof. Varese (University of Turin) and Annamaria Bevivino (Division Sustainable Agri-Food System)
PhD Co-tutor ENEA: Manuela Costanzo (Laboratory Innovation of Agri-food Chains)
PhD Activity: WP2 of DELISOIL project - Delivering, safe, sustainable, tailored & socially accepted soil improvers from circular food production processes for boosting soil health
