Abstract

Stimulated rotational Raman scattering (SRRS) was studied by varying the optical properties of the pump radiation and the ellipticity degree of the pump radiation polarization. It was found that the vibrational Raman gain reduces fast as the diffraction angle δ gets larger than the phase matching φS. Furthermore, it was observed that rotational Raman scattering is more favored than vibrational scattering when gV-eff<gR but, the energy conversion efficiency to rotational Stokes radiation reduces to a few percent when gV-eff≥1.5gR.
