Abstract

It may be inferred from the measurements carried out that, under correct technical conditions and using suitable protection, the doses absorbed by the accompanying persons in the radiodiagnostic pediatric section can be limited to acceptable values and certainly can be under the limits fixed by the Commission of the European Communities directive for the public (5 mSv y-1 for total body exposure and 50 mSv y-1 for hand exposure) (CEC80). If exposures are repeated frequently, however, the possibility of exceeding the above mentioned limits becomes probable and so it is recommended that professionally exposed personnel should not be involved in this kind of task.
